I come from a family, on my wonderful late mother's side, that is famous across much of eastern Canada for having a way with what some might refer to as the truth. In fact, one of the wives of a particularly renowned uncle, Paulie, commonly referred to the entire clan as the "Bullshittin' Kaluzas. However, since she comes from the sheep stealin' McKennas, I have always considered that Aunt Rita Mae intended this insult as a compliment; like a sobriquet of superiority. She loved her husband as much as any woman ever has, and we all loved her, so she is forgiven. She was not untouched by the legacy given to her my Uncle Paul.
But let it be said that my uncles (and mother) and their Opa, my Grandfather, were very good at taking a tale and stretching it around the corner; they would never let the truth be the enemy of the entertaining.
So the stories I am about to tell are not the gospel truth, but neither are they the gospel lies; they are somewhere in the middle, with parts likely to fall on either end of this spectrum. But the telling of truth is not the purpose of this blog. Rather, it is to just tell stories as Paulie, Vic, Eddie, Darold and Lottie would have told them; in a way that can never be proven wrong. I used to tell these bigger than life stories to Kathy, and she thought I was pulling her leg, until she found out they were true.
As far as the blog's name, my sweetie, Kathy, couldn't believe all the stories and legends I would tell, and when they were proven, she said, "You're just like Big Fish."
So this is Big Fish Blog.
